Michael Owen Advocates for Cole Palmer Over Bukayo Saka in England Squad

In a recent statement, former England striker Michael Owen has voiced his support for Chelsea's Cole Palmer to be included in the England squad over Bukayo Saka. Owen emphasized Palmer's current form and quality, suggesting that it can no longer be overlooked.

"I would now start Cole Palmer over Bukayo Saka (for England). I don’t think you can ignore Palmer’s form and quality any longer," Owen stated.

The former Liverpool and Manchester United player highlighted Palmer's standout performances in the Premier League, suggesting that he could even contend for Player of the Year or the Golden Boot despite playing in a struggling team.

"He might even get Player of the Year, possibly the Golden Boot, and that’s in a struggling team. So he’s now a must in my mind," Owen added.

Owen outlined his envisioned lineup for England, proposing to play Palmer on the right alongside Phil Foden, with Declan Rice in a holding midfield role and Jude Bellingham and Foden as attacking midfielders.

The remarks from Owen come amid ongoing discussions about squad selection for the England national team, with manager Gareth Southgate facing tough decisions ahead of upcoming fixtures.
